The Voice of the Snake by Gucci is a profoundly dark, aromatic oud fragrance with a leathery, medicinal, and smoky character that lingers powerfully. It opens with a bold fusion of saffron, patchouli, and agarwood (oud), creating a dense, almost visceral first impression that some describe as reminiscent of bandages, hospital rooms, or a reptile enclosure. The scent remains highly linear with minimal evolution—remaining tightly focussed on its core oud, patchouli, and saffron accords. Despite its intensity, it offers a refined and elegant dry-down with hints of pencil shavings, incense, and a subtle plush bitterness, reminiscent of dark leather or lapsang souchong tea. Longevity is exceptional, lasting well beyond 12 hours even on skin, and projection is strong, making it unmistakable. It is highly polarizing: a few find it mysterious, sensual, and beautifully crafted—ideal for night wear, gothic settings, or personal signature scents—but many consider it offensive, medicinal, or unpleasantly dominated by an artificial 'band-aid' odor. Performance is solid, but it’s severely overpriced for the category it belongs to.
