by Zoologist Perfumes
Sloth Zoologist is a deeply earthy, herbal, and mossy fougère with a quiet complexity that unfolds slowly over time. It opens with chamomile, açaí berry, and violet leaf—fresh and slightly tart—then develops into a rich, damp, green herbal accord dominated by hay, lavender, and earthy cumin. The scent feels natural and authentic, evoking a moist forest floor with mold, moss, and mossy mushrooms emerging in the heart. As it settles, the fragrance mellows into a warm, sweet, and slightly animalic base of myrrh, oakmoss, vanilla, and beeswax, with a late-stage drydown that feels like soft incense and earthy vanilla. The sillage is moderate to strong, and longevity is long, though the projection drops quickly after three hours and becomes a skin-scent. It leans masculine due to its earthy dryness but remains unisex in appeal. Despite a few harsh layers—some find the cumin or mushroom notes too pungent—it reveals a delicate balance of sweetness and damp greenery. While some feel it's too earthy or sweaty, many appreciate the hypnotic journey: from an intense, almost fetid opening to a serene, warm, mossy drydown that ends like a quiet forest at dusk.
