by Jorum Studio
Athenaeum by Jorum Studio is a contemplative, narrative-driven fragrance that unfolds like a quiet story in an artist's atelier or a sun-drenched rural studio. It begins with a layered, balsamic herbal opening—bee wax, honey, and tart green notes—giving it an almost medicinal freshness. The middle reveals a cool, dusty leather and ink-laden drydown, with subtle hyacinth, neroli, and hay, hinting at dry grass and old books. The movement between wet and dry accords, particularly the way the leather shifts in prominence and the ink note adds a visual, tactile dimension, gives it a dynamic, thoughtful character. Despite its initial complexity and the faint impression of camphor or mold, the fragrance settles into a well-balanced, woody-balsamic base with a powdery patchouli, evoking aged book pages and resinous bark rather than overt sweetness or florals. It’s most striking in its restrained elegance—never vulgar, never loud, and always in motion.
