Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of Lavender Thorne — the fragrance discovery website at lavender-thorne.co.uk and the Discovery Agent API. By using either, you agree to them.

What we provide

Lavender Thorne is a fragrance discovery service. The website offers free perfume profiles, note and accord guides, and AI-assisted recommendations. The Discovery Agent API is a paid monthly subscription giving AI agents and applications access to our catalogue and recommendation engine over the Model Context Protocol, as described on the pricing page. We link to third-party retailers for purchases; the retailer — not Lavender Thorne — sells and ships any physical products, and their terms govern those sales. See our affiliate disclosure.

API subscriptions and keys

Paid subscriptions are billed monthly through our payment provider, Stripe. Your API key is issued to you personally (or to your organisation) and arrives by email after checkout. Keep it secret: you are responsible for use made with your key. We may rotate a key for security reasons, in which case a replacement is emailed to the same address.

Usage is rate-limited as described on the pricing page. We may adjust limits, tooling, and features to keep the service reliable for everyone; material reductions to a paid plan will be notified by email in advance.

Cancellation, refunds, and disputes

You can cancel any time, self-serve — see the refund & cancellation policy for how cancellation, refunds, and billing disputes are handled.

Acceptable use

Don't attempt to circumvent rate limits or access controls, resell raw catalogue data, misrepresent output from the service as your own dataset, or use the service for anything unlawful. We may suspend keys that breach these terms; where practical we will contact you first.

Content and availability

Fragrance information is editorial guidance, compiled from public sources and our own analysis; it is provided in good faith without warranty. Scent is subjective — recommendations are suggestions, not promises. The service is provided "as is"; we aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Our liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the event giving rise to a claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Changes

We may update these terms; the current version always lives at this address, and material changes affecting paid subscribers will be announced by email before they take effect.
